Code Enforcement strives to promote and maintain a desirable living and working environment throughout the County. Our goal is to promote a positive image of Code Enforcement to the community by fostering a culture that is helpful, knowledgeable, approachable, and of the highest integrity. We work to ensure state and local ordinances are enforced to protect the safety, health, welfare, and property values of Rockdale County residents. 

What is Code Enforcement? 

The Code Enforcement team is comprised of sworn-in officers, whose role is to inspect, investigate, and specialize in the prevention, detection, and enforcement of properties that violate Rockdale County’s municipal code. We work to ensure state and local ordinances are enforced to protect the safety, health, welfare, and property values of Rockdale County residents.

Code Enforcement investigates complaints relating to county ordinances such as:

• Littering  
• Overgrown, littered yards or vacant lots 
• Junk/inoperative/unregistered vehicles
• Rodent infestation or unsanitary conditions 
• Failure to obtain permits
• Vacant properties 
• Dilapidated structures
• Right of Way Violations 
• Zoning Regulations
• Development Regulations 
• Hazardous Structure Investigations
• Commercial Vehicles

We administer a fair and unbiased enforcement program to correct violations of County Ordinances and the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Educating the public on the ordinances and how they can come into compliance are key factors within our division. Failure to comply will result in citations and court penalties which include up to a $1,000 fine per violation per day and/or up to 60 days in jail.
