This board consists of five members appointed by the Board of Commissioners and meets as needed. The Board of Adjustment hears appeals and requests for variances as it relates to the provisions of the Unified Development Ordinance section of the Rockdale County Code of Ordinances. Members serve three-year terms. No member shall be eligible for more than two terms.  

This Board oversees the election process and elections personnel for Rockdale County. This Board consists of three members, one appointment per political party in Rockdale County (Republican, Democrat and Independent.) The appointments are for two years. 

This Board consists of seven members each. The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners or their designee (while in office), the School Superintendent (while in office), three members appointed by the Board of Commissioners and two members appointed by the Conyers City Council. The Board of Health oversees the Health Department of Rockdale County and is governed by O.C.G.A. §31-3-2. 

This Board is made up of various appoints, six of which are made by the Board of Commissioners. This Board was created by resolution in 1996 (R-1996-32) for the purpose of serving as the county’s official planning body for services to children, youth and families and to coordinate between various agencies that provide such services. 

The Rockdale Planning Commission hears zoning applications and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners on zoning and land use issues. Additionally, they serve as platting authority for final plat recording. The Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the Board of Commissioners.  

The Development Authority’s purpose is to encourage and promote the expansion and development of industrial and commercial facilities in Rockdale County.  It has the power to borrow money, to issue notes, bonds, and revenue certificates, to execute trust agreements or indentures, and to sell, convey, mortgage, pledge and assign any of its funds, property and income as security therefore. The Development Authority consists of five members appointed by the Board of Commissioners for a term of four years.  The president of the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of the City of Conyers, and the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners serve as ex-officio members. 

This Board consists of five members appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve five-year terms. This Board oversees the function of the Department of Family and Children Services. 

This Board has two appointments from Rockdale County made by the Board of Commissioners. These are three-year terms. A Commissioner also serves as an ex-officio member during the time they are in office. 

The Hospital Authority is authorized and empowered to do all things necessary or convenient for the establishment, operation and maintenance of adequate hospital facilities for Rockdale County.  It exercises the powers conferred by the state Hospital Authorities Law, including the authority to promulgate and enforce reasonable rules governing the conduct of physicians, nurses and technicians while on duty or practicing their profession in the facilities maintained by the Authority as set forth in its by-laws.  The Authority has nine members. Each new member is elected from a list of three names furnished by the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners. 

The Keep Conyers-Rockdale Beautiful Council is dedicated to encouraging and educating the public on litter prevention, beautification, waste minimization and community improvement.  The Advisory Council works to foster personal responsibility in all who live and work within the boundaries of Conyers-Rockdale County in order to promote a community of good neighbors. The Council will strive to achieve these goals through education, beautification efforts and recognition of those who make a difference.  The Council has 9 members, seven appointed by the Board of Commissioners and two appointed by the Conyers City Council. 

The purpose of the library board is to promote the development and improvement of library services to all citizens of the County to meet their informational, cultural and educational needs. The board has nine voting members who serve three-year terms. Three of the members are appointed by the Conyers City Council and four are appointed by the Board of Commissioners. Two are nominated by the Conyers Civic League and confirmed by the Board of Commissioners.  

This council serves as a recommending body to the Board of Commissioners on issues related to stormwater, water quality, environmental and natural resources.  The council consists of seven members appointed by the Board of Commissioners for four year terms. 

This function of this Board is to review and modify disciplinary actions against employees of the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Department. This Board consists of five members, with one appointment made by the judge of the Superior Court, the Sheriff, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, the District Attorney and the fifth member shall be an employee of the Sheriff’s Department elected by a majority vote of the employees of the Sheriff’s Department other than the Chief Deputy and the Sheriff. The terms are for two years. 

A group of citizens appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve as a recommending body for the SPLOST Program funds and projects.
